Day 1: Surfer's Here We Come!

So if you didn't know already, I, along with 5 other girlfriends (Kayla, Leanne, Marsha, Suvanna and Vicky - we all attended the same highschool)planned a Gold Coast trip as a belated schoolies (we graduated in 2009, but we were never able to go anywhere together after the year finished because we went overseas with family etc etc). We initially planned it to be only a week long because we thought a week was enough, but we extended it a day more because flights are super expensive during weekends and why not spend an extra day at Surfer's Paradise on Valentines?!Our first day consisted of the 6 of us meeting up at the airport. I met up with Marsha at her place and we were both picked up by Leanne's dad and dropped off at the domestic airport. The 6 of us were boarding 3 different flights; Suvanna, Vicky and Marsha took the early JetStar flight, Leanne took the next flight out to the Gold Coast with Virgin Blue, while Kayla and I boarded the later flight with JetStar.    When we landed, we once again all met up at the Gold Coast terminal before splitting up again (Marsha, Suvanna and Vicky had to pick up the apartment keys, the room specifically said 4 people only, so hence why we decided to split up and catch different buses- that and because we were waiting for our luggage :D) and catching the 702 bus which dropped us off at Surfer's Paradise almost 30 minutes away from the airport.       After relaxing a bit at the apartment and watching a little bit of foxtel, we went grocery shopping. We decided even before going on vacation, that we would cook most dinners at the apartment, whilst we bought lunch at the theme parks, saves money, haha! When we packed away all our grocery, we hit up the beach, which was only a three minute walk from our apartment! It was during sunset, so it was beautiful scenery, a cool (but strong) wind. Really, the wind was so strong that it blew sand, and the sand kinda cut my skin!      You don't even understand the hype I was in. I mean, I seriously asked my dad twice about this vacation, and upon the second time asking him, he said yes. He hardly says yes to me going out anywhere, and he said yes to a 8 day, 7 night trip to the Gold Coast! Of course I had to pay everything myself, but hey it is worth it right?! For our first dinner, we made burritos! We bought the kit from Woolworth's and everything, and Kayla was the main cook, everyone else helped her whilst Vicky and Suvanna prepared the salmon salad!  Due to the hype, the first night Leanne, Marsha, Suvanna, Vicky and I stayed up and took loads of pictures, talked and chilled on the one bed the apartment had. That night, our sleeping arrangements were as following: Kayla slept alone on the couch pillows and huge-ass bean bag, I slept on the fold out couch and the other 4 slept on the only proper bed we had in the apartment. Let's go road trip one day then! But it's so much cheaper flying, I mean come on, one ticket cost me $39 with no check-in luggage!!
